Do you know how to find out when a drug will go generic?
There is a way! It’s called the FDA Electronic Orange Book.
Follow this link and enter the drug’s brand name: http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/ob/docs/querytn.cfm
You can then click on the patent number and then, on the next screen, the link for “Patent and Exclusivity Info for this product.”
Of course, for any given drug and any patent expiration date, you count on the drug company’s lawyers to do everything they can to delay the process, but it’s still a good source of information.
